The extension works of the Hospital Comarcal de l’Alt Penedès have recently been completed with a new annex building, which is located in the southwest end. It is a building designed by Francesc Pernas in the early nineties, in which CASA SOLO has carried out several extension and refurbishment projects.

On the first floor, all the dialysis areas have views of the exterior, both of the vineyards surrounding the hospital and of a new interior courtyard created by the building, following the same pattern as those existing in the hospital. Friendly and universal design criteria were taken into account, and a participatory process was carried out with patients and healthcare professionals before the project was drafted.

The second floor organizes all its classrooms around a central courtyard, which provides light and visual and climatic comfort to the circulations.

With these actions, the Hospital can face new healthcare and technological challenges in the future, always with an eye to improving patient care and the well-being of its professionals, who have a new working environment that is in line with the latest design trends.
