This is a comprehensive renovation project of the 5th floor of the Children’s and Women’s Hospital of the HUVH to house a new hospitalization unit, which includes 8 double rooms, 2 single rooms and all the annexed services.
The Maternity building tower is located in the northern part of the Hospital plot.
This is a very well circular polyhedron, where the treatment of all its facade faces is the same, regardless of its orientation.
The main objectives of the project are:
1) Structural adequacy;
2) Maximum functionality, facilitating the orientation of users, ensuring agile circuits for both users and professionals, with criteria of universal accessibility;
3) Achieving a welcoming and comfortable physical setting, with adequate natural lighting and solar filters; and 4) Ease of maintenance and management.
The redistribution of the rooms and support premises has allowed for a clear differentiation between the hospitalization area, the care area and the public area, reducing traffic crossings and allowing for easy reading and understanding of the ring.
The conditions of the environment have a direct impact on our physical and emotional well-being.
The humanization of the care environment is one of the key factors in hospital design, especially in a pediatric unit.
At the moment of care, when the patient is most vulnerable, the conditions of the environment in which they find themselves can contribute to the healing and tranquility of the child, as studied by environmental psychology.
Similarly, the conditions of the work environment influence the mood and productivity of the professionals involved.
