The new Cluj Children’s Hospital is conceived as a hub encompassing Health-Education-Sports-Nature-Nature-Urban Agriculture. The site is located in a low-rise residential neighborhood with gable roofs. An extensive hospital is proposed, formed by different low volumes with gable roofs, thus integrating into the neighborhood with its silhouette and materiality, connecting with the character and scale of the neighborhood and creating a friendlier environment. The careful orientation of the building seeks to offer light, sun and views of the landscape for all the children, from their rooms and from the common areas of rehabilitation. The central internal axis, called “Street”, organizes the program and creates spaces that connect all hospital functions, rooms, both public and medical flows. Generator of order and orientation at all times through the natural light that invades the space. A public space welcomes visitors in hierarchical order; The access by the sloping path between large forest trees reveals the silhouette of the hospital; an extended green space with an art installation for children near the entrance bordered by a public park; a horizontal covered public space that attracts and welcomes before entering the “Street”.
