The new satellite building of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona will offer radiation oncology and dialysis care to the population of Vallès Oriental and Osona.

The building is located in the General Hospital of Granollers, with independent operation from Bartomeu Brufalt street.

The topography of the site allows differentiated access to the radiotherapy area, located on the lower level, and to the dialysis service, located on the upper floor. Taking advantage of the difference in height between the two floors, a mezzanine for facilities was created to free up the roof of the building, which is lower than the nearby buildings, thus minimizing its visual impact.

The curved ceramic facade is one of the most characteristic features of the building, becoming an outer skin that folds and shapes the building, in clear homage to the ceramic tradition of Granollers. This outer skin ensures both the natural lighting and the privacy needed in the dialysis treatment room or in the radiotherapy waiting area, while solving the connection with the outpatient building.

Aware of the influence of the environment on the physical and emotional well-being of people, special care has been taken in the design, seeking to offer a welcoming environment with the choice of warm and friendly materials such as ceramic tile on the facade and wood in the interior; and views towards interior courtyards that flood the spaces with light.

The project will be possible thanks to CatSalut, Fundació Privada Hospital Asilo de Granollers, Granollers City Council, Consorci Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, Diputació de Barcelona.
