The competition for the new Geneva Children’s Hospital proposes the development of two new buildings for a children’s hospital, dedicated to outpatient and inpatient treatment, within the HUG complex, according to the parameters of the current Master Plan. The design of the buildings is based on a rational structural grid that allows for easy adaptation to the future functional needs of the hospital. Clear distribution corridors facilitate orientation inside the building and show the will of the project to create flexible spaces oriented to the functional needs of the staff, children and their families. Large interior courtyards ensure natural light and ventilation. These landscaped courtyards also provide pleasant visuals, becoming therapeutic areas for the children. The configuration of the proposal and a clear relationship with the surroundings establish the basis for the creation of direct links between the neighborhood and the various users of the hospital. The park opens up to the city, promoting a transversal connection with the neighboring neighborhoods and energizing the new public space around the buildings where meeting spaces are proposed The project seeks to establish close and personal relationships through the creation of comfortable and balanced spaces.
