We are very happy to share with you the article published by La Vanguardia “Age-friendly hospital: an adaptation to demographic change” written together with our collaborator and CASA SOLO’s consultant for Age-friendly projects, Paulina Ballbè, director of the Postgraduate on Active & Healthy Ageing Project Management of the BSM-Pompeu Fabra University, and Enric Duaso, specialist doctor in Geriatrics, and director of the Sociosanitary Area Service of the Health Consortium of L’Anoia. The article highlights the need to design more accessible, inclusive, comfortable and safe hospitals that maximize the maintenance of the functions of the elderly, ensuring their tranquility, respect, privacy, dignity and independence. Spain is expected to “be one of the oldest countries of the planet, due to the combination of a high life expectancy (one of the highest in the world) and a low fertility rate (one of the lowest in Europe)”. At CASA SOLO we work with the concept of “design for all” and we propose 100% inclusive hospitals, considering the different needs of its users.
