The third floor of the A Coruña University Hospital Complex (CHUAC) stands out in LifeStyle, the quarterly magazine of PORCELANOSA, for the materials used in the project. The interior design magazine LifeStyle is aimed at clients of the Porcelanosa Group interested in interior design, cutting-edge architecture and new trends, and highlights news and projects in which technology takes the measure of into account the needs of professionals who plan are creating a world that in which demands safety, contemporaneity, sustainability and environmental respect. The article explains how CASA SOLO, with the collaboration of the architect Cristina Fernández, has faced some of the key issues in the development of a hospital project: the choice of materials that can help effectively meet the parameters and conditions so specific to hospitals and health centers, such as the maximum hygiene of all surfaces, or resistance to extensive and permanent use. In the specific case of the new CHUAC surgical unit, our team has chosen the Krion® Solid Surface from Porcelanosa Group. It is a compact antistatic mineral and resistant to chemical attacks, with antibacterial properties, without additives and imperceptible joints. The latest-generation acrylic stone has been used to coat three emergency rooms and fifteen general operating rooms of the new block on the third floor of the Hospital Complex. The material has also been used for the non-splash washings of the operating rooms and the washings of the corridors, among other applications. Thanks to LifeStyle for qualifying CASA SOLO as “a benchmark at a national level” in projects of sanitary spaces different from the hospital environment such as research centers, laboratories, centers for the elderly or health centers.
