On the 16th of February, the ICU of Mutua de Terrassa University Hospital was inaugurated, a project that began its work in August 2017 and that has had a great impact on the media.
The opening ceremony of the Intensive Care Unit took place in the Teaching Building of Mutua Terrassa and was chaired by Mr. Alfredo Vega, Mayor of Terrassa, and Mr. David Elvira, Director of the Catalan Health Service.
The project consists of the reform of the 4th floor of the “C” building of the hospital, and its objective is the adaptation of the structure of the former ICU, so that it can serve the required assistance processes.
In this way, two semi-ICUs are located: one with 8 boxes and the other with 6 rooms. The rooms are planned for individual use, to improve the patient’s stay in this way, although they have capacity for two beds, in order to increase the capacity of the hospital in cases of emergency.
This flexibility facilitates the work of the professionals, increases the privacy of the patients and ensures the visibility of the rooms from the nursing control during most of the time, through tinted windows in doors and enclosures.
The project for the reform of the ICU of Mutua of Terrassa University Hospital also proposes the humanization of spaces, through the arrival of natural light and the enhancement of views over the green areas of Terrassa, such as the Vallparadis park or the natural park of Sant Llorenç-Obac.
This introduction of the landscape in the health centre, together with the improvement of the working conditions of the staff, allows a faster recovery of the patients, which takes special importance in an ICU, one of the most critical services of the hospital.
From CASA SOLO we are very satisfied with the completion of this work of the ICU of Mutua of Terrassa University Hospital and we hope that it will have a positive impact on the quality of life of all hospital users.
