CASA SOLO proposes an innovative initiative for our customers: design for the construction, upgrading or adaptation of hospital buildings to the age-friendly concept. We can do so for both acute care hospitals such as urgency, mental health and primary care services and for other medical services or health facilities, day-care centres and old people’s homes. We provide customers with a R&D+i opportunity that also contributes a quality and sustainability premium, creating value and making them a nationwide benchmark.
Some of CASA SOLO’s age-friendly design strategies are embodied in the design of surroundings that enhance the following aspects:
• Mobility and autonomy
• Peace of mind, respect, privacy and social relations
• Compensation for cognitive, sensory and physical decline.
In short, we plan, upgrade and adapt hospitals and other healthcare and welfare buildings with features that go beyond the application of generally accepted accessibility guidelines. Our proposals are in line with the practise of leading hospitals, clinics and other healthcare facilities worldwide. We achieve a spatial design that prioritises SAFETY and COMFORT not only for elderly patient but for all ages, without necessarily entailing a significant increase in construction and maintenance costs.
Here at CASA SOLO we believe that healthcare environments planned in consonance with the age-friendly concept is a necessary and prior condition for the transformation towards healthcare services that are comprehensively suitable for the elderly and provide a more holistic approach to care of all patients. Hospitals all over the world that apply the integrated age-friendly concept (surroundings + organisation) are achieving excellent results in terms of increasing care quality and at the same time reducing spending (elderly patients make shorter stays, are re-admitted less, maintain their capacity to perform ADLs (activities of daily living) after discharge from hospital and consequently do not have the same need to use healthcare or home-care services or enter an old people’s rest home, etc.).
CASA SOLA continues to innovate and provide “gerontologically sensitive design for all” because we believe that this is what our society needs.
We are ready to take a step forward in hospital-related innovation with an integrated vision.
